Hundreds rally in Lima and all over Peru to raise awareness of femicide and other forms of violence against women, a year after the first 'Not One Less' demonstration.

Supporters in the capital city were seen carrying banners and pink balloons during the march.

Arlette Contreras, —known for introducing Peru to the international movement— said people across the country join together to speak in one voice saying "Not One Less."

She had announced demonstrators would be gathering in front of the Justice Palace to inform of cases involving gender-based violence.

This year's protest carries special significance, because in a few more days a year will have passed since a 'Not One Less' activist disappeared.

Her name was Solsiret Rodriguez Aybar. She was a 23-year-old mother who attended Federico Villarreal University in Lima. August 22, 2016 marked the last time her parents heard from her.

In addition to Rodriguez, spokeswomen remembered Shirley Villanueva, Brenda Ñahuis, as well as Estefhanny Diaz and her two young daughters, all femicide victims reported missing.

Last year, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski joined his wife Nancy Lange and various government officials at the march.
