Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has joined his wife Nancy Lange and various government officials at the march to raise awareness for violence against women “Not One Less.”

Demonstrators have taken the streets of downtown Lima to express their right to protest against an epidemic of femicide in the Andean nation.

According to organizers, other demonstrations are being held in at least 24 cities around the globe.

The initiative comes as a response to past rulings in cases of violence against women perpetrated by their partners.

"The march takes place today, and I will be going with my wife. We are going to ask Lima authorities to simplify the process to file complaints, because violence occurs in an environment where complaints cannot be filed and silence absorbs the impacts, but things should not be this way," he was quoted as saying earlier today.

Known as Ni Una Menos (Not one Less), the campaign is aimed at putting end to violence against women.

The event is also endorsed by government officials and local celebrities. It must be noted similar protests have taken place in other Latin American countries such as Argentina.
