Education was listed as one of the prioritized agenda items for the remaining time of President Humala’s five-year term in office during this speech delivered today at the Congress.
“Achieving this goal requires a joint effort from political, social forces and the private sector,” the head of State noted.

The Peruvian leader said the country’s number one priority will be education, and announced that, as of 2015, the proposed state education budget will increase by S/. 4,000 million (about US$ 1,435 million).

Furthermore, Humala said the government will make a S/.1,000 million investment to raise teachers' salaries.

In the past two years, the government has invested S/.1,100 million in teacher salaries and S/.400 million in bonuses for teachers working in hard-to-reach zones such as rural areas and border regions.
