Peru President arrives in Colombia for Binational Cabinet

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Monday afternoon arrived in Cartagena de Indias to join the 4th Peru-Colombia Binational Cabinet on Tuesday.

Upon arrival in the neighboring country, the top official was welcomed by Colombian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Patti Londoño Jaramillo and Peruvian Ambassador to Colombia Ignacio Higueras Hare.

The statesman was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Cayetana Aljovin and 11 State ministers, who will join the binational meeting.

The event will provide both countries with a framework to analyze pending issues related to social security, border development, defense, and education, among others. 

According to the Head of State, the meeting will also address the Venezuelan migration to Colombia and Peru, a phenomenon that has seen a considerable rise due to the political and humanitarian crisis in the Bolivarian nation. 

Earlier on Monday, the top official boarded the flight bound for Cartagena de Indias in Piura region, where he arrived last Sunday to preside over a decentralized Council of Ministers session

He also oversaw post-disaster rehabilitation works in said northern region.
