Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna on Friday reacted unfavorably to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's proposal that Peruvian counterpart Pedro Pablo Kuczynski should call a meeting of Latin American Heads of State.

"The invitation is not clear, as the theme has not been specified. We know neither who he invites, nor the purpose and the reason of such invitation," the Peruvian diplomat underscored.

According to Luna, this is an "informal invitation," and the suggestion is not worth considering. Therefore, it has been ruled out.

Likewise, he reiterated Peru is still considering the definitive withdrawal of its Ambassador to Venezuela Mario Lopez.

"Any decision regarding bilateral relations with that country will align with the Lima Declaration principles," he said.

"Such decision will be made at the right time," he went on to say while addressing the media.

Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Americas agreed to condemn the fracture of democracy, and not to recognize the decisions emerged from Venezuela's recently-sworn in Constituent Assembly that was deemed as illegitimate.

Likewise, diplomats expressed their energetic rejection of violence and the use of force in the Bolivarian country.

The agreement was reached at the Americas Foreign Affairs meeting held on Tuesday in Lima, Peru.
