President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday will administer the oath of office to Peru's new Economy and Finance Minister, who will replace Alfredo Thorne.

The event will be held at 10:30 AM (local time) at Lima's Government Palace.

As is known, Thorne on Wednesday confirmed his resignation from the Executive Branch after losing a confidence vote at Congress.

A Parliament plenary session resulted in 88 votes against, 2 abstentions and 11 in favor of the cabinet member's continuation in office.

The decision was taken following a debate, during which parties expressed their stance on the matter.

The Head of State said Thorne is likely to leave the country to work abroad.

"Thorne is an internationally renowned economist. He will leave Peru to provide consulting services abroad," Mr. Kuczynski concluded.
