Peruvian Parliament awarded renowned tenor Juan Diego Florez the Medal of Honor in the Grade of Grand Officer during a special ceremony held at Congress on Wednesday.

The tenor was recognized for his outstanding artistic career and social commitment towards supporting low-income children and youth.

As is known, 44-year-old Florez is the founder of "Symphony for Peru" social project.

Such initiative aims to develop —artistically and personally— the most vulnerable youngsters through the power of music.

Likewise, the singer affirmed this recognition fills him with pride and rewards his efforts in favor of Symphony for Peru members.

Finally, Florez invited citizens to attend his coming concert aimed at collecting funds for Peru's natural disaster victims.

Lima concert

The fundraising gig will be held at Lima's National Stadium on July 1st.

On that night, the artist will take the stage along with other Peruvian musicians to perform songs and dances from all over the country.

The event will also include a special appearance by Symphony for Peru's orchestra and choir.

Ticket prices range between S/33 (about US$10.12) and S/315 (about US$96.68).

The money raised will be transferred to State-run National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).
