Europe is a major investor in Peru, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said shortly before heading to such continent for official visits to France and Spain, where he is set to meet authorities and business people.
Mr. Kuczynski underscored Europe is the third largest destination for Peruvian exports, after China and the United States.
While in Paris, he will meet entrepreneurs from various sectors, including companies involved in construction activities.
He will also attend an event hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (
OECD), and meet French counterpart
Emmanuel Macron, whom he will invite for an official visit to Peru slated for September.
"The old Marshall Plan has become an organization comprising the most developed countries in the globe.
Peru seeks to join the OECD, and they [organizers] have asked me to hold a conference on Latin America, youth and Europe," the Peruvian leader explained.
Spain
Mr. Kuczynski referred to his Spain visit scheduled for next week, saying he will hold audiences with President of the Government Mariano Rajoy, El Pais daily journalists and Spanish businesspeople in Madrid.
"Moreover, we will meet the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (CEOE) —Spain's largest business group— and have lunch with the
Queen [Letizia] and the King [Felipe VI], along with my wife [Nancy Lange],” the Peruvian Head of State pointed out.
The 78-year-old statesman underlined Peru needs to have good relations around the world.
"It is very important that we do so; hence my short trip to Europe, in order to make an appearance," he concluded.
