Peru's First Vice-President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday said he hopes to successfully meet the challenge emerging from his designation as Ambassador to Canada.
As is known, the appointment was
made official today via Supreme Resolution.
"It is a good decision which I respect," the government official expressed in this sense.
"It denotes trust, not only of the Foreign Affairs Minister [Ricardo Luna], but also of the President of the Republic [Pedro Pablo Kuczynski]," Vizcarra pointed out.
The former Minister thus believes the North American country will highly value his designation.
He also noted that the appointment "does not mean leaving my work as First Vice-President of the Republic behind."
"I will fulfill my role as Ambassador and Vice-President through a direct communication with the Head of State and with government entities," he assured.
Vizcarra will take up diplomatic duties in Canada this October.
