President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday said he is confident that Peru will achieve its 100% water supply coverage objective by 2021, coinciding with the country's Independence bicentennial.
"We are aware this is a highly ambitious goal, but we must
work towards it," he added.
In this respect, the statesman underlined the need to mobilize funds for the endeavor, like the S/110-million (about US$33.63 million) transfer to 10 water utilities executed during the said OTASS event.
Requirements also include re-organizing sanitation service providers (EPSs), as well as enhancing management in the sector.
Lastly, Mr. Kuczynski reiterated the need to push forward major infrastructure projects along Peru's entire coastline and work on river control to prevent climate-driven disasters like recent "
Coastal El Niño" floods and landslides.
