Meetings between Peru's Executive Branch and regional governments (GORE-Executive) are yielding positive results in terms of cooperation, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed during the opening of the fourth of such meetings on Monday.

Delivering the inaugural speech, the Head of State stressed the need to get ready for coming Andean frost events and "friaje" (cold spells) in the interior regions.

The statesman also underlined participation mechanisms other than GORE-Executive meetings.

"This whole process was launched by the government. Not only GORE-Executive [meetings], but also associations, which are voluntary partnerships between regions joined by their own will, rather than by a law," he said.

In this sense, he pointed out the Inca nation "organizes itself in a natural manner, which is an important thing."

On the other hand, the President affirmed recently-appointed Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (RCC) Executive Director Pablo de la Flor will explain his work plan to regional authorities.

"There are things we are already fully aware of, like what needs to be done concerning roads and bridges. However, there are other more complicated matters, such as where to rebuild houses avoiding streams or flood-prone areas," he explained.

Lastly, Mr. Kuczynski informed the Executive will introduce a bill to Congress promoting river channeling in exchange for lands to be reclaimed, which may be used for agriculture or to build safe urban areas.

The 4th GORE-Executive takes place at 27 de Enero Convention Center in Lima's San Borja district.

The event will run thru Tuesday, May 8, ending with a luncheon at the Government Palace.
