Peruvian agro-exports totaled US$2.363 billion in the first semester of 2017, a 10% increase from the same period last year, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) informed.
Growth was underpinned by fruit shipments.
In this context, traditional agro-exports showed a good performance (US$181.84 million; +14%), boosted by higher shipments of
coffee (+21%) and different types of sugar cane (+19%).
Likewise, primary agro-exports arrived in 48 countries. Top destinations for those sales were the
United States (US$40.00 million) and Germany (US$25.65 million).
Next in the ranking were: Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Italy, the United Kingdom and Uruguay.
Value-added exports
Exports of farming and agribusiness subsectors totaled US$2.181 billion (+10%) in the analyzed period.
The most demanded products were avocados (US$363.21 million; +38%) and grapes (US$237.83 million; +22%).
In addition, shipments of mangoes and fresh-refrigerated asparagus stood out.
