Turkey seeks to develop bilateral cooperation with Peru in various areas, as it hopes Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both nations will be reached soon, Turkish Ambassador to Peru Ferda Akkerman said.

He expressed Turkey and Peru enjoy "problem-free" relations and aim to develop cooperation in economy, trade, science, education, culture, tourism and defense industries.

"We are currently negotiating agreements which, once signed, will pave the way for deeper relations," the Ambassador told El Peruano newspaper.

Likewise, he highlighted the visa waiver agreement  —in force for some years— facilitates mutual visits.

"Free trade is the most important issue, so we are hoping to consolidate Peru-Turkey FTA soon," Akkerman noted.
