Peru's Production Ministry (Produce), through the StartUp Peru program, launched the Biodiversity Challenge contest aimed at funding high-impact and dynamic enterprises committed to sustainable use of biodiversity.

StartUp Peru encourages the emergence and consolidation of new business ventures wishing to innovate products and high-tech content, pursue international markets and create high-quality jobs.

Through its consolidation, the Peruvian State seeks to boost new economic engines comprised in the National Plan for Productive Diversification.

According to Produce, contest winners will be granted non-reimbursable funds worth up to S/150,000 (about US$50,000).
