President Humala congratulates U-15 football team on historic triumph

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Wednesday congratulated the national under-15 football team for their history-making gold medal performance at the 2014 Boys’ Youth Olympic Football Tournament in Nanjing, China.

The Peruvian leader addressed a few words to the football team via twitter to express his joy and proud for such a great result.

"Congratulations to our athletes for their effort and the joy they have given to the country through their participation at the 2014 Youth Games in Nanjing. Long Live Peru!," said Ollanta on his official twitter account.

The Andean country's Prime Minister Ana Jara Velasquez and the President of the Congress Ana Maria Solórzano also commended the national team for their performance and for making the country proud.

"Vibrant news: ‘Peru wins gold medal at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. Congratulations to Juan José Oré's pupils", said the PM via twitter.

"Congratulations to the under-15 on their gold medal win at the YOG held in Nanjing. You are the country's pride!" expressed the head of the Congress.

The Peruvian first lady also joined the congratulatory remarks: “I am so proud!! These are the things that fill the soul. Way to go! I think this team has a bright future.”

Peru has triumphed over Korea to take the gold medal 2-1 in a tight-fought finale to the men's football competition at the Jiangning Sports Centre Stadium on Wednesday.
