Pope Francis joins cloistered Peruvian nuns in prayer

10:15 | Lima, Jan. 21.

Pope Francis on Sunday morning took part in a prayer ceremony with nuns of contemplative life upon his arrival at Las Nazarenas Church in downtown Lima.

The Popemobile took His Holiness to the site, where Catholic faithful and devotees of Lord of Miracles were waiting for him since early in the morning.

It must be noted thousands filled Tacna and Emancipacion avenues before Francis' arrival.

Some 550 cloistered nuns —mainly those of the Carmelite order— came from different parts of the country, said Manuel Orrillo, religious administrator of the Lord of Miracles Brotherhood.

The Pope has been a special devotee of Peruvian Lord of Miracles since long before being elected Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

As is known, His Holiness arrived in Peru last Thursday for a 4-day visit to the Inca country.
