Peru’s public investment totaled US$321 million as at Feb 2017

As at February 2017, Peru’s public investment amounted to S/1.04 billion (about US$321 million), Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) reported.

Such investment was executed by the three levels of government: national, regional and local.

Local governments headed the chart with S/516 million (about US$158 million), followed by the national government with S/343 million (US$105 million) and regional governments with S/189 million (US$57.9 million).

At national-government level, the Transport and Communications Ministry led the ranking having executed projects worth S/236 million (about US$72.3 million), followed by the Education Ministry with S/50 million (about US$15.3 million).

Concerning regional governments, Arequipa Regional Government executed public investment projects valued at S/32 million (about US$9.8 million), thus holding first place in terms of amount spent.

On the other hand, Callao Regional Government ranked first in terms of progress made, with 77%.

As per local governments, Cajamarca took the lead with the largest share of the budget (S/53 million, about US$16.2 million) spent,.

When it came to progress in the implementation of projects, Amazonas local governments saw the largest advance (11%).
