Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) today authorized Housing, Construction and Sanitation Ministry budget allocations worth US$18.9 million to finance urban and rural sanitation works in support of local governments.

According to a supreme decree published in the official gazette El Peruano, the sum will be used to fund three investment projects of urban sanitation and 18 of rural sanitation.

In this sense, about US$15.8 million will be allocated to the works carried out by National Rural Sanitation Program and the remaining US$3.1 million to the works under the National Urban Sanitation Program.

The document states that such funds shall not be used for other purposes under any circumstances.

The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation will be informed about the physical and financial progress made on the projects.

Information shall be provided about the project implementation schedule and the regulations included in previously signed agreements in order to support monitoring and verification actions.
