Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna denied that the United States influenced the Government's decision to declare North Korean Ambassador 'persona non-grata' as it responds to UN Security Council (UNSC) agreements.

In this regard, Luna deemed inappropriate to maintain relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Likewise, the ministry disclosed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to North Korea Juan Carlos Capuñay has completed his diplomatic mission in the country.

On Monday, Foreign Affairs Ministry declared North Korea's Ambassador Kim Hak-Chol an unwelcome person in Peru and asked him to leave within 5 days.

The decision was taken in response to the country's repeated and flagrant violations of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions

Peru also protests North Korea's refusal to heed the international community's constant calls to comply with its international obligations, respect international law and end its nuclear program.
