A total of 26 rural school teachers from Peru will head to the United States this month to be trained in English teaching methods and to improve their language proficiency.

The educators will study at Arizona State University from November 22 to December 18.

The scholarship is aimed at strengthening and developing linguistic, methodological and intercultural skills of certified English teachers, so that they can improve their teaching performance in class.

The grant is aimed at teachers appointed and recruited for public secondary schools under a full school day regime.

This morning Peru's National Program for Scholarships and Educational Credit (Pronabec) organized a ceremony for the said scholars, which saw the presence of U.S. Embassy representatives, Pronabec’s Executive Director Raul Choque and Education sector officials.
