Peruvian Energy and Mines Minister Romulo Mucho has been participating at major international events held in Santiago, Chile, where he has set up meetings with the main mining investors from around the world in order to discuss issues linked to the demand, supply, and prices of the refined red metal.

On Monday, Minister Romulo Mucho participated as guest of honor and main speaker of the 15th International Organization Committee (IOC) of the World Mining Congress (WMC), which for the first time takes place in Santiago.

Following his speech, the government official received recognition from the organizing committee —the Chilean Institute of Mining Engineers.

This activity brought together more than 60 members of the principal mining economies in the world, including government authorities, entrepreneurs, and leaders of the mining industry coming from countries such as Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, United States, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Sweden, among others.

As part of today's agenda, the Energy and Mines sector's head and Deputy Mines Minister Henry Luna met with Antofagasta Minerals representatives led by the mining company's CEO Ivan Arraigada.

Arraigada, who highlighted Peru's attractions for investment, noted that Antofagasta Minerals has prospects of investing in Trapiche (Apurimac region) and Coimolache Sulfurus (Cajamarca region) projects.

"We want to invest responsibly for the benefit of Peru's development," he pointed out.

Moreover, Romulo Mucho held meetings with Plusmining's Executive Director Juan Carlos Guajardo and its technical team, in which they shared opinions regarding copper production, noting that Latin America produces 50% of the red metal in the world.
