Peru's Amazonas tourism set to increase with resumption of flights

Peru's northern Amazonas region will increase tourist arrivals by 12 percent this year with the resumption of direct air services at Chachapoyas airport, it was reported A recent announcement of the regional director of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Manuel Cabañas, stated that the tourism industry will be boosted by the resume of air operations in addition to the promotion actions taken by the regional government.

He noted the goal is attracting more visitors, domestic and foreign, aware of the Amazonas' wonders of such as the Fortress of Kuelap and the Gocta Falls, the world's tallest waterfalls.

Moreover, Cabañas noted tourism in the northern region will increase even more with the extension of the runaway at Chachapoyas regional airport.

"We are working with the regional governor in the airport expansion which will ensure direct flights from Lima with aircrafts with larger passenger capacity and service quality," he said .
