Some 135 tourism operators from 33 countries will attend Peru Travel Mart (PTM 2017), the main yearly event for inbound tourism promotion.

Set for May 5-8 at Lima Convention Center, the event is co-organized by the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) and the Inca nation's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

Deemed as the country's most important trading meeting, PTM has been gathering —since 1987— international buyers and national sellers of Peru's tourism products.

According to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros, said new edition proves the effective partnership between public and private spheres to boost the sector's development.

New buyers

Canatur Head Fredy Gamarra indicated that 74% of coming international attendees (135) will be first-time visitors.

In this sense, buyers from Belgium, Portugal, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam will —for the first time— participate in the business gathering.

Likewise, markets with the greatest number of tour operators and wholesalers registered for this PTM include Brazil (17), France (14), Ecuador (12), Mexico (10) and the United States (10).

National participation

At Peru Travel Mart 2017, foreign enterprises from issuing markets will participate as buyers.

Thus, local hotels, airlines, cruises, restaurants, land transfer companies, trains and other enterprises will be present at the event.
