16:23 | Lima, Jul. 21.

The Arequipa region, in southern Peru, will play host of the 32th annual Organization of American States' (OAS) Model General Assembly where college students of the hemisphere will gain perspective on issues of the inter-American agenda.
The MOAS is designed to promote democratic values among the youth of the hemisphere by familiarizing students, faculty and academic institutions of the Americas with the work of the OAS and its Member States.

Taking place at Universidad Catolica San Pablo (UCSP) from July 22-25, 2014, the MOAS is a simulation exercise where, through role-playing, the students represent the diplomats and political officials of the OAS Member States and debate resolutions dealing with current issues on the Inter-American agenda.

Likewise, it familiarizes students, teachers and academic institutions with the OAS work and its role as the main political forum of the hemisphere and fosters the development of leadership skills in youth such as negotiation, team-work and problem solving.

The assembly will be opened by the Chief of Staff of the OAS Secretary General, Hugo de Zela, and Peru's Permanent Representative to the OAS Juan Jimenez Mayor.

According to the OAS, the meeting will bring together students from 36 universities in 14 countries of the hemisphere.
