Lima will host the First Meeting of Education Ministers of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) aimed at coordinating educational policies at the regional level, Peru's Deputy Minister of Institutional Management, Fernando Bolaños announced Monday.
In statements to Andina news agency, Bolaños said this event, taking place on May 29-30, is a great opportunity for Unasur country members, which gathers a population of over 390 million people.

He noted that Peru will propose to work in favor of intercultural education to banish all forms of discrimination against the Andean or Amazonian student population.

Moreover, the Deputy Minister stated Peru aims to lead initiatives on issues previously identified as strengths to work on the development of policies which are of strong interest to the country.

Peru currently holds the rotating presidency of Unasur and the South American Education Council (CSE), which represents a great opportunity for the country to propose highest interest topics.
