Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Maria Sanchez today claimed her sector will guarantee the voting rights of nearly 900,000 citizens living abroad, so that they can vote in the 2016 presidential election.

Remarks were made after speaking about her sector’s budget bill for next year —which amounts to S/.589 million (about US$178.82 million)— before the Congress. 

Peruvians will cast their vote at 4,500 polling booths across 185 cities in 62 different countries around the world. Her office will put aside S/.4 million (about US$1.19 million) for this purpose.

“We will guarantee that standards are respected and that results are reported to electoral authorities within the appropriate time frame,” she affirmed.

The Chancellor spoke about her sector’s budget bill that amounts to S/.589 million (about US$175.82 million), of which S/.577.7 million (about US$172.44 million) will be allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the other S/.11.5 million (about US$3.43 million) to the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation – APCI.
  
“The Foreign Affairs department 2016 budget accounts for 0.56% of the Executive Branch total budget,” she pointed out.
