These matches comprise its last opportunity to guarantee a place at Russia 2018 World Cup.
After being defeated by Brazil (0-2), Peruvians are not allowed to make any mistakes in the South American Qualifiers.
Led by the Argentinean coach Ricardo Gareca, the red-white holds the eighth spot from a total of 10. Peru has seen six defeats, four victories and two draws (14 points).
In this context, Gareca traveled to Brazil to meet with three top national players: Paolo Guerrero (Flamengo), Miguel Trauco (Flamengo) and Christian Cueva (Sao Paulo) prior to the matches.
