Peru should exceed this year its foreign tourist target of three million this year, stated the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Jose Luis Silva, while stressing that American Airlines will operate seven non-stop flights between Houston and Lima.
Silva noted that by 2016, the government expects over 3’600,000 foreign visitors arriving to Peru.

In addition, he said that the U.S. top flag carrier has announced that in few weeks it will start seven non-stop passengers services from Houston to Lima, which will have a positive impact in tourist flow eventually.

"We are talking about 70,000 to 80,000 extra passengers a year on the route Houston-Lima, representing a three percent additional to the total tourists coming," he said in statements to Andina news agency.

The minister argued that this route operated by American Airlines keen to be the main passengers carried connection between Asia and Peru to meet demand from Korea and Japan.

Thus, Silva pointed out that Humala’s administration expects tourism industry become Peru’s second largest source of foreign currency after mining.
