More than 350 people will protect and safeguard Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park before, during and after the Inti Raymi ceremony — a celebration to the Sun God held every 24th of June in Cusco.

According to Vidal Pino Zambrano, head at Decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco (DDCC), various security measures have been adopted to prevent tourists and locals from damaging the structure.

"Information and restriction signs will be placed in restricted areas such as Chincana Grande, Cocha, Andenes Suchuna, los Baluartes, Calispujio and Puqro. Littering, graffiti, fire-making, and entry into restricted areas are prohibited," he explained.

The area behind Cristo Blanco (White Christ) has been reserved for traditional entertainment activities, popular among locals.

DDCC and some Inti Raymi sponsors will place trash cans and containers at various points throughout Sacsayhuaman.

Culture sector's personnel are properly uniformed, readily identifiable and ready to formulate recommendations regarding safety and preservation.
