Peru received US$729 million from hydrocarbon companies in 2015

The total value of hydrocarbon royalties collected by the State in December 2015 stood at US$728,985,250, of which 76.22% came from natural gas extraction, said Beatriz De la Vega, Tax Partner at EY - Ernst & Young.

The State collected US$555,636,723 and US$173,348,527 in natural gas and oil royalties, respectively.

On the other hand, the royalties paid by Peru-based consortium Camisea stood at US$520,566,940.

Basins

Figures were released at the “Peru soil & gas investment guide” developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and EY.

According to the report, there are 18 oil basins favorable for hydrocarbons exploration, of which 10 are located onshore and the rest offshore.

“Among the most popular are Talara, Marañon and Ucayali,” De la Vega underlined.

She also said there are 15 oil basins along the national territory, whose potential has not been explored thoroughly, such as Santiago, El Huallaga and El Titicaca.
