Peruvian rider Alexis Hernandez achieved a historic third place at 2017 FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup in Morocco.

It must be noted this is the first time Hernandez participates in this World Cup.

During the competition, the Inca racer faced the best rally drivers in the globe.

OiLibya Rally of Morocco 2017 was the fifth and last leg of this World Cup, which was divided into five stages.

Regarded as the toughest African race, the rally proved particularly challenging for the Peruvian because of the difficult routes and tough competition.

At the end, Hernandez ranked 5th, thus securing a spot in the World Cup's podium.

Dutch rider Kees Koolen (Dakar participant since 2009) clinched victory with 109 points.

Polish driver Rafal Sonik (Dakar Champion in 2015 and World Champion in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) and Peruvian Alexis Hernandez completed the podium with 92 and 84 points, respectively.
