Peru: Presidents participate in 'Pacific Alliance: Future Vision' Summit

Presidents of the Pacific Alliance participate as speakers in the “Pacific Alliance: Future Vision” Summit held at the Paracas city’s Hilton hotel in the framework of the 10th Summit of the Pacific Alliance.

The President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Luis Alberto Moreno, serves as moderator.

Organizers indicated that Peruvian President Ollanta Humala will deliver a closing speech at the end of the Business Summit.

The Business Summit of the Pacific Alliance is made up of high-level businessmen of the four member countries and is aimed at promoting the mechanism at the regional and global level, provide suggestions to improve its development and boost joint actions towards third markets.

On Friday, July 3, the Presidential Summit of the Pacific Alliance will take place. Heads of State will sign the Paracas Declaration during the closing ceremony.

The Alliance, composed of Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, is an economic and trade integration mechanism that seeks to build a deep integration area to achieve free movement of goods, services, capitals and people; as well as to promote greater growth, development and competiveness of its economies.

Furthermore, it is aimed at becoming an economic, trade integration platform with worldwide projection and special emphasis on the Asia- Pacific region.

The Pacific Alliance has 32 observer nations including the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Morocco, China, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Israel, Singapore, Spain, France, Portugal, Turkey, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Belgium.

Panama and Costa Rica are two observer states that have expressed interest in joining the Alliance.

Additional requests have been received from Austria, Haiti, Indonesia, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Greece, Thailand, Poland and Georgia. The Council of Ministers gathering will decide, whether they are approved or not.
