Peru President unveils new rural Electrification System in Cajamarca

President Ollanta Humala Tasso unveiled the rural Electrification System Santa Cruz-Chota-Bambamarca Fifth Stage in Northern Peruvian Cajamarca region.

The event took place in Chalamarca district, located in the Chota province (Cajamarca region).

This work comprises an investment worth S/.48 219,647.47 million, aimed at supplying electricity to 384 areas and benefiting directly 66,380 inhabitants.

"We have come here to provide electricity for you, your children, in order to reach progress. The government works for all Peruvians, especially those who need it the most," the President told the crowd while delivering a speech.

The company ElectroNorte will be in charge of the operations and maintenance of the electrical system, which has an estimated useful life of 25 years.

This project has been developed in the framework of the Electrification National Plan, which aims at reaching the 96% of national electrification coverage by 2016.

The activity, included in the Presidential activities' agenda, was convened by the Presidency's Press Secretariat.
