Peru President to launch itinerant social action platforms in Iquitos

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will head to Iquitos (Loreto) to implement Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS), composed of maritime ships designed to bring State services and programs closer to the country’s most remote riverside populations.

Set to be rolled out at PIA Putumayo, the initiative will benefit inhabitants living near Amazon River and its tributaries by bringing surgery rooms, and services provided by Banco de la Nacion bank, the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) office, the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, and the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion.

The Head of State will be joined by second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz, Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Alfonso Grados, Production Minister Bruno Giuffra, as well as Deputy Minister of Political and Social Assessment Maria Eugenia Mujica.

The delegation also comprises lawmakers Jorge Melendez, Alberto de Belaunde, Gilbert Violeta, and Navy Commander General Gonzalo Rios Polastri, among other officials.
