Peruvian President Pedro Pablo kuczynski will be received in audience at the Vatican Apostolic Palace by His Holiness Pope Francis on Friday morning.

During the meeting, the Peruvian leader will formalize the invitation for the Supreme Pontiff to visit the Inca nation next year.

The gathering is planned for 10:00 AM local time inside the Holy Father's private library.

According to the Head of State, the meeting will cover details of the Pope's January 18-21 visit to Peru.

Likewise, it will address topics linked to climate change and environmental conservation. 

Mr. Kuczynski's agenda also covers a meeting with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to discuss issues of bilateral interest and the situation in Latin America. 

Peru's top official landed at Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy on Wednesday, joined by Ministers Ricardo Luna (Foreign Affairs) and Alfonso Grados (Labor and Employment Promotion).

The presidential delegation also includes Protocol and Ceremony Director-General Juan Carlos Gamarra and Peruvian Ambassador to the Holy See Maria Elvira Velasquez.

Mr. Kuczynski was received by the Holy See's Head of Protocol Msgr. Jose Bettencourt, who gave him a warm welcome on behalf of the Catholic Church.

Private audiences with Vatican representatives were held on Thursday to define the subjects to be discussed with the Pope.
