Peru's President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski requested United States' support in creating a group to assist Venezuela, currently ravaged by political and economic crisis.

The Head of State addressed the topic during his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry last Wednesday.

"I spoke with Secretary Kerry about this yesterday, about establishing a group, because there will come a day when there's an overnight collapse, when there's blood in the streets, and no one will be ready," the top official told Miami Herald's journalist Andres Oppenheimer.

Such group must include South America's biggest country, Brazil, he stressed.

"If there's support from Brazil, we could do something important," he projected.

As is known, Mr. Kuczynski had previously referred to Venezuela's chaotic situation during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.

On such occasion, he affirmed Peru's readiness to undertake necessary efforts to assist Venezuelans to bring a solution to their problems.

Remarks were made during an interview with columnist Andres Oppenheimer, published today by the prestigious Miami Herald.

Mr. Kuczynski returned to Lima last night from a two-week tour, including stops in China and the United States.
