Peru President meets with political leaders to inform about alleged espionage

Peru’s President, Ollanta Humala, currently holds a meeting with the leaders of the main political forces.

It is presided by the Head of State, who is joined by Prime Minister Ana Jara.

The gathering is intended to inform top political leaders about the investigations and actions conducted by the government, regarding the alleged espionage accusation in favor of Chile. It involves three members of the Peruvian Navy.

Earlier this morning, in a press conference, Minister of Defense, Pedro Cateriano, demanded a “severe” sanction for the Navy personnel, if liabilities are proved.

The meeting, currently held at Lima’s Government Palace is attended by: Former President Alan Garcia (APRA); former President Alejandro Toledo (Peru Posible); current First Lady Nadine Heredia (Partido Nacionalista); and former First Lady Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular).

Among other attendees are: Luis Castañeda Lossio (Solidaridad Nacional); Fernando Andrade (Somos Peru) and Raul Castro (Partido Popular Cristiano).

The meeting started after 6:00PM (local time).
