Peru: President laments death of military member in VRAEM

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte has lamented the death of a military agent that occurred recently during joint operations against terrorist remnants in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

"The Presidency of the Republic laments the death of Peruvian Navy's Technician Third Class, Edgar Tiburcio Espinoza, who gave his life to defend the peace of our beloved Peru," the Presidential Office reported on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) announced the passing of Tiburcio Espinoza that occurred during the military operations carried out in the VRAEM area.

The CCFFAA expressed its deepest condolences to his relatives. Besides, the institution indicated that it will continue to inform citizens about the progress of said military operations.

The Ministry of Defense also expressed its deepest condolences to the relatives of Tiburcio Espinoza, a brave agent who lost his life fighting for pacification in the VRAEM.
