A month after taking office, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski welcomed the rise in his administration's approval rating to 60% according to the latest GfK survey.

Said support will prove relevant to obtain legislative powers that will be requested to Congress within the next few days.

"We are working on the measures [to be presented to Congress]. I think they should be limited to our main objectives: reactivating the economy, enhancing security and drinking water services," he emphasized.

Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski referred to a Sales Tax (VAT) reduction proposal, not included among the legislative powers to be requested to Parliament.

"In my view, VAT reduction does not require such endorsement. In any case, it would take place by early next year," he affirmed.
