The current administration will continue supporting Lima's underprivileged districts, with the aim of boosting progress, Peruvian President Ollanta Humala announced on Sunday.

Following the inauguration of "Gamarra" Comprehensive Assistance Children Center (CIAI), he reaffirmed the Government works on generating more development opportunities in the country.

"We are going to support La Victoria and every district of Lima, so they can continue moving forward; especially those that require more attention from State. That's where we need to be," Peru's top official affirmed.

The said project —located in Lima's district of La Victoria— aims to provide comprehensive assistance to children aged between 06-36 months.

This proposal emerged from the need for childcare services to be provided at Lima's Gamarra Commerce Emporium. Thus, beneficiary families will be allowed to access a safe and modern center for babysitting during work hours.

The center comprises infrastructure equipped with suitable furniture to provide proper services.

Sports complex

Likewise, the Head of State attended the inauguration ceremony of the concluded expansion and improvement works on "Inca Garcilaso de la Vega" sports complex.

It features a swimming pool, box, Taekwondo ring, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, skatepark and a dressing room.

The project will benefit thousands of people from La Victoria's district. It entailed an investment worth S/.4,678,364.51 (about US$1,392,370).

Mr. Humala called upon citizens to practice sports and share time with their families at the complex.

The President was joined by Peru's Ministers of Social Inclusion Minister Paola Bustamante; Housing, Construction and Sanitation Francisco Dumler Cuya; Labor and Employment Promotion Daniel Maurate; as well as the Finance and Economy Alonso Segura.
