President Kuczynski's administration aims to reduce poverty rates from 22% to 15% by 2021, Development and Social Inclusion Minister Cayetana Aljovin affirmed.

The government also seeks to expand coverage of productive transformation programs serving as follow-up to cash transfer programs.

According to Aljovin —sworn in on July 28— the Ministry had merely executed 39% of its annual budget as of the seventh month of the year.

However, she is confident necessary efforts will be made to reach 100% rate and meet the objective of eliminating extreme poverty in the country.

The high-ranked official also pointed out the government forecasts a drop in urban poverty, from 14.5% to 9%.
