The Government of Peru is ready to meet reconstruction challenge in disaster-hit areas all over the country, said Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, who seeks consensus in support of such process among parliamentary groups.

“Our government pursues challenges and we are prepared for this important task of reconstruction. Our agenda has to restore hope of those in affected areas,” he told RPP radio and TV station.

The Cabinet chief confirmed the reconstruction process has three goals: to improve conditions of affected people, rehabilitate roads, and restore people's daily life.

He also stressed the importance of learning major lessons on urban planning and construction works from the emergency situation.

On Monday at 10:00 AM, Zavala will address the Congress to back up the bill that will regulate reconstruction efforts in areas affected by the Coastal El Niño weather event.

"We expect parliamentary groups can reach an agreement to get the 'reconstruction with change' project underway," the high-ranking government official continued.
