Peru: Over 70,000 people celebrated Corpus Christi in Trujillo

Over 70,000 people, among locals and tourists, filled up Trujillo's main square to celebrate the traditional Corpus Christi feast, previously declared the Eucharistic Week's main day.

Corresponding ceremony was led by city's Archbishop Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte.

Invited bishops and priests from several ecclesiastical jurisdictions also attended the event.

Subsequently, regional authorities, locals and devotees reunited as one-single community for the start of traditional Holy Sacrament procession across the streets amidst sounds of bells, colorful helium-filled balloons and confetti rain.

Among most outstanding festival-related activities the declaration of Trujillo as the "Eucharistic city," the motivational school-student march around downtown area, as well as Corpus Chrsti bulletin boards exhibition stood out.
