735 cocoa producers, who reside in the VRAEM area, participate in the training program organized by the Ministry of Production through "Mi Empresa" (My Enterprise) initiative in Pichari locality belonging to La Convención province (Cusco region).

The VRAEM is the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro rivers.

The initiative called "Emprendedor Peruano del VRAEM" (Peruvian Entrepreneur from the VRAEM) is designed to promote competitiveness among the area entrepreneurs, since it is included in the National Plan for Productive Diversification, which seeks to diversify the exporting supply.

It will enable cocoa producers to receive training on how to manage the product after harvest-season and its corresponding transformation into a value-added good. Likewise, steps towards accessing financing and a more convenient cooperation scheme will be addressed.

This intervention, implemented by the Ministry of Production, was coordinated with the Commission for Pacification and Economic and Social Development in VRAEM area.

Among the beneficiaries are members of: The Santa Rosa de Chiriari Producers Association, Ashaninca Producers & Craftsmen Association and the Pangoa district Municipality.

Entrepreneurs will also learn about traditional and alternative means for obtaining financing.

Speakers and instructors will address labor, legal, accounting and tax related matters. Attendees will also be provided tools aimed at reaching the formalization process.
