6,240 tourists visited the amazing Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum located in Lambayeque city, during the International Museum Day celebrated on Monday 18.

This amount exceeds the one registered last year, which totaled 2,579 visitors.

Thus, Sipan Royal Tombs Museum has proved to be one of Northern Peru's most important attractions.
Artistic, cultural and recreational activities, including a welcoming ceremony for tourists and a performance by a Peruvian Army’s Marching Band, were held.

Visitors enjoyed the traditional dances from different regions of the country, as well as the representation of Sipan Lord performed by the students of Tucume district's Federico Villareal school.

Families got together to have fun watching Peruvian Paso horses, which were part of the celebration, as well as craftwork and gastronomy exhibitions.

The documentary titled "Señor de Sipán" (Sipan Lord) was screened at the gathering. It was aimed at school students, because it recreated the essence of the Mochica governor, who lived over 1,700 years ago in Lambayeque region.

It must be noted the discovery of “Royal Toombs of Sipan Lord” was made by the team of archaeologists led by Walter Alva.

The discovery is considered one of the most important archaeological findings of the 20th century. It is as important as China’s Xin warriors and the Tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt discoveries.
