Peru: Over 1.6 million tourists to travel on National Holidays

Over 1.6 million tourists will travel across Peru on National Holidays, thus leading to economic dynamism worth US$161 million, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva projected.

Likewise, nationals will be allowed to enjoy gastronomy, handicrafts and nature in regions and cities close to the nation’s capital.

Preferred destinations

Among preferred destinations to Lima citizens, Cusco (23.8%), Chiclayo (5.6%), Ica (4.4%), Churin (3.8%), Trujillo and Chosica (3.1% each) stand out.

People living in Trujillo will mainly visit Lima (31%), Cajamarca (17.2%), Cusco, Chiclayo and Chimbote (6,9% each).

Chiclayo residents will explore Lima (32.3%), Cajamarca (16.1%), Mancora (9.7%) and Cusco (6.5%). 

Piura citizens will travel to Mancora (21.1%), Canchaque (15.8%), Chiclayo and Zorritos (10.5% each). 

People residing in Arequipa will arrive in Cusco (26.4%), Tacna (11.3%) and Camana (9.4%). 

Likewise, Huancayo inhabitants will visit Lima (34.4%), Ica (9.4%), San Ramon, La Merced, Satipo and Oxapampa (6.3% each).

Most preferred accommodation options will be relatives and friends' homes (44.1%), lodging establishments (53.4%), camping and country clubs (4.2%).

As is known, Peru will celebrate Independence Day festivities on July 28th-29th. Thus, trips will begin on previous days.
