Peru names three ministers in cabinet reshuffle

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso on Monday named three new top ministers in charge of foreign affairs, interior and transportation, said his office, the government palace.
The above appointments were carried out following the resignations for personal reasons of Eda Rivas, minister of state in charge of Foreign Affairs; Walter Alban, in charge of Interior matters, and Carlos Paredes, head of Transport and Communication Ministry (MTC).

With the proposal of his top government advisors, the head of State appointed Gonzalo Gutierrez, former Peru's ambassador to China, to replace Rivas, as his new foreign affairs minister.

Likewise, the Peruvian leader also named Daniel Urresti to be in charge of the country's Interior Ministry which protects rights and empowers security forces within the national territory.

The sworn-in ceremony took place at the Golden Room of the Government Palace in the nation's capital Lima on Monday, 23rd June.

Meanwhile, Jose Gallardo, an economist on the board of the country's Central Reserve Bank (BCR), became Humala's new transportation and communications minister.

Appointments were made official by resolutions signed by President Humala and Prime Minister Rene Cornejo.
