Peru’s President Ollanta Humala has reaffirmed the government's commitment to working in partnership with Mexico in the fight against drug trafficking, an issue that warrants "shared and differentiated responsibilities", in terms of consumption, supply and demand for drugs.
"We have been working on agreements on intelligence, cooperation and security in order to share data and information concerning drug cartels which may seek to enter into our countries” he said in an interview with the Mexican newspaper La Prensa.

Moreover, Humala stated that both countries believe that a positive agenda of trade development can help eventually to generate wealth and spaces where young people could have the opportunity to get involve with legal businesses.

The Peruvian leader said that drug trafficking is a global threat and stressed that no country or society can be free or exempt from this problem, thus it is a need to deepen cooperation in efforts to prevail over this common threat.

On the other hand, he said that relations with Mexico are at an optimum level and, in that sense, they can still go forward.
