Peru's Development and Social Inclusion Minister Fiorella Molinelli took part —as special guest— in the Second Regular Session of the World Food Program (WFP) Executive Board, the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

On behalf of President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, Molinelli presented Peru's progress in the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 2.

The cabinet member shared the stage with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, who addressed the reform process of the UN development system.

It must be noted the WFP Executive Board members approved the Peru Country Strategic Plan (2018-2022) during said session.

This plan mainly focuses on the fight against chronic child malnutrition and anemia.

It also aims at reinforcing the disaster risk management, as well as implementing a social protection system in case of disasters.

Likewise, the government official held a meeting with WFP Executive Director David Beasley with the purpose of discussing the support that the Organization will provide to Peru in the coming five years.

Plus, Molinelli took the opportunity to invite Beasley to visit the Andean country in 2018.
