Peru is doing well in the economic field despite the world’s lower economic growth, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde affirmed.
She believes the stimulus package that was put in place by Peruvian authorities is good; what needs to be improved is the implementation at the sub-national levels.
Infrastructure
The IMF representative claimed that a greater investment in the inland infrastructure is likely to result in high growth rates.
As exporter of raw materials, she said, Peru will have to deal with China’s economic downturn and the decline in raw materials prices.
TPP
According to the IMF officer, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal, which covers about the 40% of the world economy and comprises an 805 million consumer-market, will speed up trade.
She said our nation has metals, food, infrastructure, diversity and tourism. Diversification is a key element; infrastructure and implementation of projects should be prioritized, too.
